Contains passenger lists for ships and wagon trains traveling to California between 1848 and 1873. The lists are transcribed from microfilm of the New York Daily Times, the New York Herald, the New Orleans Picayune, the Panama Star, the Panama Herald, and the Boston Daily Evening Transcript.

At 2:30 pm on Monday July 21, 1862, one of the fastest steamers then on the West Coast left San Francisco with 338 passengers and crew bound for Panama. This trip wouldn't be completed at least not for the 213 people lost when the ship caught fire and sank off Manzanillo, Mexico.
