Search in online gedcom files for any surname, location or other text. These are family tree files that may not have been converted to a web page format.
Gedcom is short for GEnealogical Data COMmunication. This is the type of file genealogy programs use to store family information and details. Many web sites have not yet converted these files to a readable web page format.

Genealogical Definitions

Find the meaning for antiquated disease names, such as apoplexy and dropsy, acronyms found on old documents and obituaries such as IOOF and old-fashion names for occupations cordwainer.

Search for Pictures

Search for pictures of homes, churches, schools, ancestors, tombstones, deeds, landmarks, wills and other documents.

Search for Genealogy Sites

This is a human edited classified listing of websites. Directory results are different from regular Google search results that are retrieved based on a computer search algorithm or formula.
Surname Web Pages
Enter Surname
Search for web pages that contain a surname in the web page title. This skips unusable web sites and performs a deeper and faster serach.
This also ignores web pages that have an English words such as church and first names such as Thomas that may be the same of the surname you are searching.

Search for Structure
US City + Zip or US City + State
Structure: Cemetery, School etc.
This restricts your search to a particual type of structure and within a specific geographic area.
Find churches, cemeteries, newspapers, libraries and other structures. You get a list of results along with addresses, web sites and they are plotted on a map.
Current names returned. They may not be the same as on older documents.

This narrows down your search to a specific country or language. Only web pages from the country and in the language you selected are returned.
Each web page can be translated into English by clicking the "Translate This" link next to the rearch result.
